Frequently Asked Questions:

Q: Are any of your products tested on animals?

A: Nope!  Never.  All of our products are tested in-depth on our own bodies as we create.

Q: Are you products made locally?

A: Yes!  All of our organic ingredients are sourced in the United States from small businesses and produced in small batches by Christina and Lindsey!

Q: Where do you source your grass-fed beef fat?

A: We source all of our Grass-fed Beef suet from local-to-us clean, grass-fed farms that are ethical and humane.

Q: Why does my tallow feel gritty?

We use the same recipe every time we create.  However, there are many factors that could attribute to why the texture is gritty.  This could include temperature fluctuations from the changing seasons.  These factors cannot always been foreseen and we would never want to alter our recipe or product as this can sometimes include toxic and unnecessary additives or chemicals.  Something we will never do!

Good news though!  Grass-fed beef tallow is very similar to wax as it softens and hardens and reacts to temperatures.  If the grittiness of your tallow bothers you, you can simply warm up the product in the palm of your hand before applying it to your skin.  The tallow will melt with your natural body heat and is the same effective, nourishing product that will leave you with hydrated and radiant skin!

Q: Where do we source our herbal infused oils?

A; All of our oils are organic and sourced from the highest quality companies.  We infuse each oil with organic herbs for a minimum of 6 weeks to enhance maximum potency.  We want to ensure that each herbal infused oil is of the best quality to produce the best, most effective products.  We truly care about our products that much!

Q: How long will a tallow balm last?

A; Quite a while!  A little goes a long way and we really mean it.  When using it on just your face, a 4oz jar could last as long as 6-12 months.  If you're using it on your face and body daily, a 4oz jar could last 3-6 months.  Now don't hold us to this!  This is based on our own personal experience and the feedback from our customers.

Information on Tallow!

                                                              Grass-Fed Beef Tallow
My family started to make and use tallow a few years ago and let me say it was a game changer in our day-to-day cooking! Included is some baseline information, but overall we want to support our community and provide healthy alternative options.

Q. What is tallow?
A. It is the fat, also referred to as suet, around the cows kidneys and internal organs that is slowly rendered into tallow.

Q. Why use tallow?
A.
It is an all-natural healthy fat.  Oils like canola, soybean, corn, and vegetable are highly processed
and manufactured. There’s a lot to unpack with this topic, I recommend doing some research on
how these oils are made. All in all, it is not healthy to consume them and tallow is a much healthier cooking fat!
Boosts immune health: With unprocessed fats like tallow, it’s easier for your body to absorb fat-
soluble vitamins that support your immune health
More information on tallow:

Tallow has a mild flavor and thin consistency.
Tallow is Keto friendly
It is rich in Omega-3s and in vitamins A, D, E, K, and B1. Offers more vitamin D than olive oil.

Q. How to use tallow?
A. Excellent for cooking almost anything! – Because of its high smoke point, it’s perfect for searing
frying, and roasting. Use like you would butter or oil, or use it in combinations with other
healthy fats like butter, olive oil, coconut oil, and avocado oil.

Q. What can I do with tallow besides cooking?
You can make balms, salves, soaps, and hair masks.  You can also season your cast iron skillets and Dutch ovens!

Q. How to store tallow? (Different sources note different timing, use your nose and your own discretion)

  • Shelf stable for – 12 months in a sealed container

  • In refrigerator – 12-18 months

  • In freezer – Indefinitely

Q. Is Tallow good for the skin?

A. Tallow is wonderful to use on the skin! Tallow's composition is closest to the natural oils produced by the skin and an excellent choice for moisturization.  Additionally, tallow contains the vitamins A, D, E, and K, in addition to fatty acids. These vitamins and fatty acids can help to stimulate collagen production and skin cell renewal.  Tallow is a wonderful anti-inflammatory that can help calm redness, acne, and other inflammation.  Tallow is also anti-bacterial which can help remove bad bacteria from the skin without stripping it of good bacteria we all need for healthy skin.  Tallow is deeply moisturizing and penetrates deeply into the skin, that provides long-lasting hydration.  Tallow heals and soothes irritated skin and supports the healing of minor cuts, burns, and dry patches.  And last, but certainly not least, tallow is natural and hypoallergenic and is often well-tolerated by people with the most sensitive skin of skin.  We recommend our Simply Tallow Balm if you're looking for the most simple form of the whipped tallow for sensitive skin issues.
